...was very, very minor & protocol called for a return; rather than a serious flight risk.
I had a 2.5 hour delay once because the seatbelt lights wouldn't turn on & off.
Safety first so, no complaint.
But, it means very minor things could cause this, and I'm hoping that's what happened here.

I used to work for an airline, saw it happen. Airplanes are delayed or have to return because of requirements that certain systems have to be operational, even if they are redundant, and if they fail you have to land. Could be something as simple as a warning light.

I flew a lot, but not like an airline employee would.
And, if it happened to me, I figured it's not uncommon.
The time I mentioned, there were only 12 people on the plane. (Late night flight & plane needed to be in Chicago for the morning. So, we were going.)
The captain joked that he could open the door and yell "Seatbelts"!
But, rules are rules.
