... by July 4th seems like it SHOULD happen, given that means a little less than 16 million more vaccinated adults in the next 26 days.
https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccinations
From the CDC data, that leaves:
((164,576,933 / 0.638) * 0.70) - 164,576,933 = 15,933,370 to go.
We're still vaccinating a little less than a million a day. Maybe many of them are under 18, though?
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/06/07/covid-19-cases-deaths-vaccinations-daily-update.html
And I'm aware that vaccination rates keep declining, but it still seems achievable to me.
I wish he'd never stated any such goals, though! The way that some "own the libs" Republican voters behave, it probably motivates them to not get a jab!
Oh, well. This country has far too many dumbasses, so Biden should stop expecting much good from them.

(3,183 posts)Saw earlier that 2/3 of the daily vaccines right now are second shots. We're on pace to hit 70% at current rates toward the end of July but rates keep declining so that date will keep getting pushed out.

(3,183 posts)...to nobody left willing to get them. There will be another bump when kids can get their shots but otherwise we've really tailed off. We might see another bump in July if universities continue to require them, not sure what the vaccination rate is among that demographic.

Now various vaccination clinics are closing down from the lack of participants.
I should probably be happy that the national percentages went over 60%. I could've imagined, months ago, it barely going over 50% similar to our elections.

Vaccines are now easily available to anyone that wants one.
It's mostly people who don't want to get it or just haven't got around to it.

(35,445 posts)because the right has to politicize everything because their core policies suck. So, they have to appeal to racists, to sexists, to homophobes, to every fringe group which now includes anti-vaxxers.
Conservatives back in the 80s would be pushing for mandating vaccines.

Reminds me of all their climate change deniers that I'd see online in the past, with so many of them associating the opposition with their opposition to Al Gore.
As if Al Gore was the primary reason to respect the science! His particular efforts were irrelevant to me, compared to the scientific research!

That's when you'll hear them complain about liberals supposedly thinking the same way, like we're taking everything Fauci says as absolute truth without critique.
Or you'll hear them complaining that science is a "religion" too. All it does is reveal their own ways of thinking, which obviously lacks introspection and critical thinking skills in most cases!

(81,568 posts)The variant, also known as B.1.617.2, is spreading rapidly in the U.K., and has quickly become the dominant strain there, responsible for more than 60% of infections and causing surges in some parts of England.
The good news is the vaccines look like they can protect people against the Delta variant. A new study from Public Health England showed two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine were 88% effective against symptomatic disease from the Delta variant compared to 93% effectiveness against the Alpha variant, the variant first detected in the U.K. Effectiveness declined to 33% after just one dose.
Fauci urged everyone who has received the first dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines to make sure to sign up for a second. "And for those who have still not been vaccinated yet, please get vaccinated," he said.

(14,856 posts)Everyone should get both doses of either Pfizer or Moderna, of course, but the 70% single dose was the "goal" mentioned months ago.
