1. Consider ? Wtf ? They waste months on negotiations with Republicans

and only consider accomodating Manchin now ? Better late than never I guess, but still....

4. I think Manchin is getting too much heat...

this gives him a chance to save face. Wishful thinking perhaps.

5. The two problems I have are

1) there's no deadline. It's good that he wants bipartisanship but for how long ? No deadline is a win for McConnell.

2) One bad accident or death amongst Senate Democrats and the game is up. Sorry for being stark but Pat Leahys bad turn should have been a wake up call.

Since as far as I can find Manchin has never voiced specifically what about the For the People Act doesn't work for him just that he dislikes it for being nonpartisan.

Should they be negotiating with Republicans then?
