Doral city council on Wednesday voted by 4-0 to ban gambling and casinos unless they were approved by the city's residents in a referendum, the Miami Herald reported.
It comes after Gov. DeSantis - a close ally of Trump - struck a deal last month which laid the foundations for the former president to build a casino at Trump National Doral Miami, a golf resort owned by the former president and run by his son Eric.
Doral city council first passed the legislation banning casinos as emergency legislation in May, and this week passed the same law on a non-emergency basis, the Herald reported, as city officials try to prevent the future construction of casinos in city limits.

Can see it now, lots of businesses getting contracts to build a casino, and provide services to the casino, only to never get paid because you-know-who ends up running it into the ground and filing for bankruptcy.
Not like it hasn't happened before.

(1,987 posts)Hopefully, residents of Doral don't want casinos, either. Watch DeSantis get involved to try to strong arm Doral into accepting gambling and casinos or Dolt 45* files a lawsuit over it.

(19,204 posts)to launder money though. Looks like "Gums" will have to come up with another idea. They're plumb out of golf courses and casinos to run into the ground, and Trump condominiums are tanking in value.
What's a crime family to do when the law is closing in?

(82,849 posts)Doral will soon find out that locals aren't fit to govern themselves, and they will need to be instructed by their betters on whether a casino is plopped down in the middle of their city limits. Oh, and it's going to need a huge tax break to start construction, and a decade or two of tax abatements so that the casino can create oodles and oodles of jobs. You don't mind if Doral's children become a ready supplier of low-paid labor at the casino, do you? Doral's schools are soon going to be failing because there won't be any money for them, so it's kind of a neat little labor pipeline that will soon be in place.

(6,254 posts)a company that brings players to Atlantic City casinos. The obit had not yet been published but the google search showed my friends name associated with a legal proceeding. He was named, along with thousands of others, as an unsecured creditor who Trumps casino owed money to when he filed his 2014 bankruptcy. A mere two years later this fraud was elected president.

(47,625 posts)Hasn't Trump learned his lesson about casinos? Apparently the idiot never learns, though I think his cognitive abilities are in serious decline.

(10,095 posts)Launder many millions for the Russian mob and pay a fine for irregular bank reporting, siphon as much money as possible out of the organization until not much is left except debt, declare bankruptcy, and leave the investors holding the bag with virtually no assets. He repeated this process several times until no one would invest with him.

He and Romney have the same business model. Establish yourself as the "manager" of a company with investors. Pay yourself exorbitant management fees, thus "harvesting the wealth" of your investors. Company goes belly up, oops! oh well. Rinse, repeat.

(47,625 posts)I just can't imagine who on the planet is left to bail him out. I don't think even the Russians have any use for him anymore. He has already served his purpose and I would think he is just a nuisance now. Maybe in his puny little brain, Trump actually believes that Putin still loves him.

(3,406 posts)Is Putin still financing this buffoon? I mean, who lends money to this guy who has shown the World he is totally incompetent in business, as a president, as a person? The only thing he is good at is screwing up people, even those who lend him money!
My goodness, some people love being punished...I don't get it!

Or they'll make it an Indian casino, which would probably be able to circumvent the city ban
