A long time ago, I was jobless for quite some time

And talking with family members and associates, I was almost expected to blame my woes on immigrants and non-white people "because of affirmative action". And I know that this is what other people were told to do during this time, and many did.

I'm glad I didn't do that.

And maybe that's because I noticed something... that all the canned, form reply job rejection emails and letters I got that denied me from those GLORIOUS minimum wage jobs I was applying to just to keep a roof over my head lacked something, they didn't begin with "assalamu alaikum". They didn't end with "stay woke". There was no "press 1 for English".

They were sent by people like me, just with more power.

It's a little funny though, the biggest heralds of "blame immigrants" and "blame affirmative action" for your problems are now the biggest heralds of "Stop critical race theory", they get to define what it is at whatever time they choose and what's so bad about it.

Who will have their experiences be denied 5-10 years from now? Who will be psychologically manipulated away? Who will be told to pretend what happened to them didn't happen at all?

I'm not sure if that's a thing we can afford to do - what with a hard right preparing for "the storm" or "what happened in Myanmar" to happen here and all. Not a good look to be working on the "denial" aspect pre-emptively.

We should be talking about uncomfortable things, whether they are the "atrocities" that Rep. Ilhan Omar mentioned or critical race theory.
