In what universe is 180 days of jail time an appropriate sentence for the rape of a child?

(33,643 posts)Before I read it I thought for sure it had to be a statutory rape case (given the 180 days), but it's quite clear this was out and out forced rape of a 14 year old by a 19 year old.
This is freaking unbelievable.

(2,529 posts)We were talking about DeVos' rollback of college rape guidelines and his comment about "not ruining a young man's life" over an accusation caused me to ask - if one of your daughters were raped in college, how would you feel?
He responded - I'd want to know what role she played in it.
I commented that I should never be invited over for Thanksgiving dinner.
