Meteorologists watching disturbance in Bay of Campeche

Weather meteorologists are keeping their eyes on the tropics as a tropical cyclone is trying to develop in the Bay of Campeche, the National Weather Service in Brownsville reports.

According to the NWS, the National Hurricane Center has indicated there is a low chance of tropical cyclone development in the Bay of Campeche during the next five days.

A trough of low pressure is expected to form in that area by Monday, and it could slowly develop as it drifts northward or northwestward next week. There is high uncertainty on any specifics this far in advance, and it is too soon to discuss any potential impacts, the NWS reports.

The NWS states it will provide updates this weekend if there is a significant change to the outlook, so please “stay tuned”. The NHC provides updates every 6 hours at 1 a.m., 7 a.m. 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. CDT each day.
