He is very upset that his taxes go towards Covered California which is how the state administers Obamacare. He looked right at me and was as serious as he could be when he said that if people who can't afford health insurance get hurt or sick they should just die, that is capitalism.

(63,912 posts)every place on earth who have health care systems that either the government provides (UK) or one that has health care as a right under their citizenship. Ask him why it is that ALL those countries CHOSE that system. WE ARE THE EXCEPTION not the rule. Even Canada has one such system.

(90,850 posts)So thats what Republican Jesus would do. And if you get sick and sicker and die, its because you werent good enough and your prayer circle didnt pray hard enough.

(1,535 posts).....people in pain had only prayer to "ease" their suffering, while the rich could afford opiates.

(1,535 posts)....would use his quote about religion being the "opiate of the masses" as proof of his atheism and disdain for religion. I guess it depends on who is doing the quoting. It's like when we say today "you say that likes it's a bad thing" when we don't agree with someone's criticism.

I wish having an R by your name meant public ridicule, not being listened to and public shunning, forever.

(144 posts)Why should the rest of us pay higher health insurance costs because people knowingly take risks by refusing to get vaccinated for COVID-19? It would a capitalist approach to notify these people that their Intensive Care Stay (ICU) will not be covered when a safe option exits to avoid such an outcome (maybe not nice - but certainly a capitalist approach).

(32,626 posts)for any thing...except military. Every piece of land should be privately owned, and maintained. Reminds me of city parking meters being sold and maintained by foreign governments. People really believe that they are the chosen ones. If your relative had any say in my life, I wouldn't have made it past a year-old.

(3,733 posts)That I don't care if your relative is upset. I don't support trillions in military spending, privatizing everything that can have money sucked out of it, or subsidizing the fossil fuel industry. Not getting everything you want is part of living in a society.
