Why did he not seek the senatorship.
A condensed explanation why DOJ is still permitted/allowed to defend TFG.
Thanx much.

(96 posts)like gun reform and climate change front and center. In addition, after he sought the nomination, he started by Powered By People and worked with his volunteers to register and contact thousands of voters in the 2020 campaign cycle. That said, unfortunately, the limited field campaign imposed by the pandemic, and our inability to counter social media misinformation, particularly in Hispanic communities that were not reached with canvassers hurt us heavily up and down ballot.
Don't have any information on your second question.

(20,267 posts)I had to get an absentee ballot which is how I ended up voting. Had 3 options. Drive by, mail in ballot, vote in person.
I hated last year and had to pace myself so as to remain 'vertical'.
It was mentioned earlier on a program if he had run for the Senate seat good chance of success. He said that's in the past and his major effort now is on the future.
I could've researched it, so I do appreciate your reply. ♥️

(22,278 posts)plus this was also a presidential year and Cornyn would have had the advantage of Former Guy's coattails.
Beto has been all over the state almost continuously since the El Paso shooting. He is working on voter registration and sharpening his own brand.
Some folks want him to challenge Abbott. I do not. He is currently our Stacy Abrams, and is working the same playbook.
If he runs for governor and does not win then he loses any momentum he might have against Cruz in 2024, and I think he can beat Cruz this time.
The wild card is whether or not Cruz decides to run for President in 2024. He has to fish or cut bait

(3,282 posts)He probably would have lost. He was coming off a senate loss and a primary loss, he didn't need another loss on the heels of that. He likely assessed correctly that his best shot was going against the more unpopular Cruz in a midterm year. Turnout was going to be harder to deal with in Texas in the Presidential year with Trump on that ballot.
Beto is probably better off keeping his powder dry and considering running for Governor or eying 2024.
Secondly, I think DoJ is just maintaining precedent by defending Presidents for things that happened while they were in office.

(20,267 posts)Mb the end result/final resolution will be (pleasantly) surprising?

(34,185 posts)Beating Cornyn was more viable than the Presidency
Beto's run for the Whitehouse became unserious fast and his campaign comments will likely cost him should he run against Cruz again.
