This is one of the biggest stories on Fox today -- and it's all about one (1) school district deciding to put "days off" on the school calendar instead of naming the specific holidays

How ever will the chilluns know why they're getting a day off from school if we don't name the days off? Why some of them might get all confused about whether Christmas happened this year, because how else could they possibly find out?

Economic, health and geopolitical issues affecting the world—what‘s that compared to Alabama taking MLK‘s name off the January 20 holiday? After all, we all saw those man/woman-on-the-beach interviews on some past July 4th where one person out of 20 shown in the interview actually knew WHY July 4th was a holiday!

But don‘t despair. Some 30 years ago, when my wife was still an active social worker here in Germany, one of her charges came up and asked me (I am NOT making this up), „hey, you‘re from America, right?“ I confirmed that I was. His next question was, „that‘s in England, isn‘t it?“ We don‘t have a monopoly by any means.
