Democrats across the US cheered last month, as Texas legislators staged a walkout from the statehouse to block the passage of a Republican bill that would enact a number of restrictions on voting access.
But the victory seemed short-lived, as the states Republican governor, Greg Abbott, quickly announced he planned to call a special session to get the legislation passed.

(36,525 posts)even though I think our side dropped the ball at the state level. IMO, our side has always been more focused on federal elections than local, & now we have all sorts of undemocratic election bullshit to overcome, but I don't see them getting control of 15 more states. Hopefully both dem leadership & dem voters realize just how important local politics is. You can't just focus on the federal elections. You can't show up to vote once every 4 years, you have to vote every election.

(36,747 posts)Within next couple of decades, 70 percent of our population will be in the urban areas.
As the more rural states depopulate, most of what is left is deplorable, fascist ilk. Its going to hard to break states like AR, SD, ND, WY, etc, etc away from it.
That is why you see human excrement like Tom Cotton in the Senate and why the Senate is going to become a true impediment to real democracy.

(36,747 posts)States that have only 3EVs should NOT have 2 senators, just for starters.
If your state only has one representative, you get only 1 senator.
