It certainly was like taking candy from a baby. He was such an easy mark to manipulate. Of course he was already in Puttie’s pocket when he was elected

2020 was a helluva year and some incredible Toons were drawn — by people who no longer have the support of daily papers. Something seems wrong with just giving a few an Honorable Mention, and no one the coveted Prize. It’s not just about the money, either.

A little too well?

I don't get it either. First the NYT discontinues its editorial cartoon. Other papers shut down. Now this. I think a lot of papers have an uneasy relationship with their cartoonists. Artists are specialists at observing above all. Political cartoonists are great observers especially of political figures and actions. They are put up with because a cartoon draws eyes to the paper.

Many times they are more "radical" (ie. honest) than the papers editorial staff, and/or the owners. They are looking for an excuse to turf them.

In fact the cartoonist who made the 6th one down Michael de Adder, was let go after he made this one about Trump after that (edit) Mexican father and daughter died
