for him to suggest that is garbage.

Zeleny is implying that a woman reporter must be treated differently. That, to me, is sexist.

(6,799 posts)Really getting tired 😴 of some of the accusations thrown around at the least little provocation.
misrepresented what he said and attempted to put words in his mouth. He had every right to say, now wait a minute, that's not what I said.

(7,288 posts)he said and was trying to shove words down his throat. She said she was just being a journalist and doing her job well, the first is debatable and the second points to how badly she sucks at her job.

(82,849 posts)That was certainly a good enough response for the press corps for four years prior to Biden.

(54,410 posts)It ceases to be journalism. Green Jeff should know that. My dad was a past president of the Washington Gridiron Club, and a respected member of the Washington print press for 50 years. I know the difference.

(7,850 posts)"the media is the message"....Collins picked through Putin's conference, found something irrelevant, and attempted to zing Joe, but he said (my interpretation and paraphrased):.. "this is a joke, right?...you don't know what the hell you're talking about" and then he apologizes for his tone but not the content.......so now she gets media attention, hundreds of twitter/Facebook likes and followers, CNN gets to back-slap, and Kaitlin Collins makes a guest appearance on Morning Joe...

(32,086 posts)She worked for Schmucker Carlson's "The Daily Caller" before going to CNN. It's no surprise she attempted a "gotcha" question--and why she failed so miserably at it.

(914 posts)That is no different with Collins, who I am a big fan of. She does it less than most in direct questioning. Really appreciate her.
The online and talking head chatter is just another sign that Biden is doing extremely well, overall.

(34,172 posts)As a white male, if you're dismissive and a little contemptuous toward a woman or a minority, it can come off badly.
JohnSJ
(92,227 posts)someone asks a question accusing him something he didn't say, he actually wasn't dismissive, but told them in no uncertain terms NO THAT WASN'T WHAT HE SAID. That is NOT sexist.
When a MAN came up to him and accused him of being against the 2nd amendment, Biden told him he was full of s**t. That was NOT being "sexist" too?

When Doucey from fox did the same thing, that was NOT being sexist?

and neither was his response to Ms. Collins

(34,172 posts)In professional settings, women are often dismissed, patronized, or treated contemptuously for speaking up -- especially in inconvenient ways. More so than men.
If you treat a woman this way, you are in effect, saying you don't care about that long history of discrimination and bias.
This is true even under the cloud of I sometimes treat mean this way, too.
Is this the most horrendous example of sexism? Of course not. Joe gets the bigger issues, but I do think he can sometimes be oblivious to some things he does.

(34,172 posts)Re: The pro-gun union guy: I think his treatment of the pro-2nd Amendment guy was strange and not sexist. I get your point Joe can get off his leash from time to time. I don't dispute that. It was wrong behavior for different reasons.
Re: Doocy: He was much more respectful of Doocy than the female reporter in the OP. He didn't finger wave him, he didn't move toward him with a raised voice and talk over her, and he explained his position with a respectful tone.

(2,015 posts)He said if you don't understand maybe you're in the wrong business not maybe women shouldn't be in this business. If it hurt her feelings he's probably right about her being in the wrong business.
