Proud Boys members squabbled in private conversations after the Capitol riot, according to newly-released audio transcripts in a group leader's court case.
Ethan Nordean, a 30-year-old described as the "Sergeant of Arms" of the Proud Boys' Seattle chapter, was arrested in February and charged with obstructing or impeding an official proceeding, aiding and abetting, and knowingly entering a restricted building, according to the Associated Press.
The most serious charge against Nordean, who also goes by the alias "Rufio Panman," carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
'We are f---ed'
Court documents released on Tuesday detailed audio files investigators had recovered from Nordean's cell phone, that were exchanged on Telegram, an encrypted-messaging service that has become popular with far-right groups.

Idiots didn't think this one through. Probably thought they would be welcomed as heroes.

(914 posts)How willing their leader was to turn informant if it helped him personally. Couple that with him getting thrown out of town the night before the insurrection.
Would love to see this narrative pushed on right wing extremist discussion boards.

Is it like saying, "I was at Woodstock?"
Everybody and his brother was at Woodstock. Yeah.

(5,613 posts)Anyone who calls the "Sergeant AT Arms" the "Sergeant OF Arms" is displaying his deep knowledge of English as our offical language.
Wouldn't quibble if the context was just a casual conversation, but this clown apparently thinks he has the title of "Sergeant OF Arms".

Very happy this a-hole is in the slammer while awaiting trial, thanks to a very wise and appropriate decision made by the judge.
Also, the article mentions Enrique Tarrio, Leader of the Proud Boys, but an FBI informant for SEVERAL years???
That's wild. Now I'm curious what the nature of his "informant" status was exactly. Who was he informing on for all those years?
Was it a drug cartel? Was it a White Supremacists - Militia group? Arms dealer? Proud Boys?

(4,616 posts)That freak at the thought of a National ID card because they don't want to be tracked by the Federal Government. Meanwhile they are oblivious and have no idea that if you get a paycheck, have a cell phone, have a home landline, own a home, have a bank account, have a credit card, have utilities turned on at that home you own, purchased a car, purchased a boat, an rv, a mobile home, land or anything that has a yearly tax levied, have a drivers license, have a passport, have a PO Box, went to school, have medical records at a hospital and on an on and on, YOU ARE ALREADY TRACKABLE! Because, you have a SS#!

(8,918 posts)The National RealID tracks your person.
I refused to take a RealID drivers License.
My Passport and the Passport Card each have RealID.
So I can't fly unless I take my Passport Card with me, and
Passports (i.e Passport & Passport Card) are for international travel
not interstate travel, like it is currently being used.
Papeles por favor!
We should not be tracked where we go.
The GPS on my phone is turned off, and I really don't like that the
gov't can ping my phone and determine my phone's location, thus
the owner as well, based on cell towers.
Why is all this happening?
Because GW McIdiot felt like tracking terrorist after 9/11, so let's track everyone.
I'm reminded of the famous Benjamin Franklin quote:
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Because they are idiots, and thinking things through is a skill they do not possess!
By the time they reach adulthood, most people acquire at least some ability to see around corners and foresee the possible consequences of their actions. The Proud "Boys" seem to have chosen their name well, as they still think like little boys who have not yet fully absorbed the concept that actions actually DO have consequences.
Escurumbele
(3,395 posts)That is exactly what makes trump-the-buffoon and some republicans so dangerous, they don't understand that actions have consequences, whether the consequences are good or bad, the outcome depends on the action.
One track mind...they only see the outcome they want, now they see another result and they are crapping their pants.

Unless they have a huge advantage in numbers.

(82,849 posts)I get the distinct vibe that these knuckleheads thought it was going to go down like some fantasy of the toughguys beating up on the weak soyboys with hardly any opposition at all. As that great philosopher Mike Tyson observed, "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." They figured they'd sweep through the Capitol like the army of the dead in "The Return of the King," and the rightful ruler of these here United States would be seated for another four years.
It didn't work out quite that way, did it boys?

Not by a lot of us (maybe even most of us), but by those who would have then had the power to treat them as heroes instead of prosecuting them.
