How many of us at DU are affected? How many friends and family?
I went to Phillips website for information.
In my humble opinion it is a class action lawsuit just waiting for the right attorney!!
The 7wo7rees family is looking for a good attorney, right now!
Ok, just an update.... from what I read at their website, if you have one of these machines stop using immediately, but 1st contact your doctor.
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!
Sorry to DU for yelling. I don't know what to do.
Thanks to everyone that has responded. I know we are not alone. I am so pissed off I can't see straight!
G d it!

(5,128 posts)It has nothing to do with "SoClean" device. It is about foam inside device to reduce noise. That foam deterioration is appearing to be possibly deadly.......

(21,375 posts)I also have a ResMed but it also uses a sound suppressing foam. Just saying.

(21,375 posts)Just because there isn't a recall? Cigarettes are still legal.

(22,367 posts)My doc and the equipment provider both said to stop using it immediately. I know of at least three other people this affects. It's a shitshow.

(21,375 posts)I have a very popular ResMed10 and I don't see it on the list.
WhiskeyGrinder
(22,367 posts)to 4 million machines, about half of which are in the U.S.

(21,375 posts)These ResMed machines also use a sound suppressing foam so it makes me also wonder about them?

(12,504 posts)RESMED machines doesn't use same foam.

(22,367 posts)is unacceptable to me.

(26,549 posts)class action lawsuits. Either of which will result in pennies on the dollar for the consumers and will take years to come to fruition.

(21,375 posts)A regular (not bi-level) machine goes for 800 bucks, and a bi-level is around 1,400 bucks.

(24,372 posts)Went to the website, entered the serial number and Bingo!
I cant sleep properly without it and I have to use it in order to comply with my CDL medical card.
Ah well. My lungs are fucked anyway.

(29,719 posts)I'm going for a sleep study to get a new machine. I don't know what to do.

(21,375 posts)It isn't under recall.
WhiteTara
(29,719 posts)and that's what they've been using for the past couple of years. Dadgum, this is one time when procrastination did not pay off. I could have gotten a new machine 2 years ago. Though chances are I would have ended up with the same kind of machine.

(11,949 posts)And a cool little transcend for when Im flying out on vacation.
10 years Ive used it. Im convinced I would be dead now without it. Or at least brain dead.
Have not spent a single night without it since I got it.
I call it my Magic Sleep Machine. Put it on and Im asleep in minutes.

(21,375 posts)but I had a successful ablation to fix my A-fib. There is a correlation, or possible correlation between sleep apnea and A-fib so I use the ResMed machine. ps/ I am one of the few people who hate it.

(11,949 posts)After 20 years or so with very poor, ineffective sleep the way I felt that next day was miraculous.

(21,375 posts)your personal insurance such as Medicare, isn't going to cover the cost of another machine if the time limits haven't expired. What Phillips should do is send everyone a check, a refund for the price of the machine so they can go out and buy a ResMed or other machine not being recalled. The Phillips equipment, head gear, nasal cushions, hoses all interchange with ResMed. I use Phillips equipment because it is better than ResMed, for me.
Anyone think Phillips is going to do that?
I just hope that the ResMed sound reduction foam is safe.

(65,176 posts)My apnea is so severe that I refuse to just quit use. I will call my doctor about it though. There has to be a good way for Phillips to provide restitution to us. I am also furious! So many people use it and it took this long to do anything?
