It's not your imagination. It really is bad and getting worse.

A cut and paste from the latest The Trace news letter:

12 — the number of U.S. states that haven’t seen a mass shooting in 2021. By their definition, the Gun Violence Archive counts 276 mass shootings in 38 different states (and Washington, D.C.) in 2021 so far, more than the 197 by this time last year.

By telling those who dare to pass any sort of sensible gun control laws to go fuck themselves. Argh, this is why we can't have nice things.

we hardly ever learn of any of these mass shooters motives

dispute at work? settle it with a gun?

your wife leaving you? settle it with a gun?

you're a little crazy? show it with a gun?

tried of those damn librulz? show 'em who's boss with a gun?
