So the RePuQs on the committees can gum up the works with ridiculous questions as to 'why are you looking at Paul Gosar, but nobody is looking at the FBI's involvement?!?!!!' kinda bullshit.
Setting the stage, as it were.
GOP Leadership purposefully gets the known-as-stupid ones to go and say these stupid things, which is a canny strategy on a few different levels.
