During a press conference on Wednesday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott detailed his plan for building a wall on the border the state shares with Mexico. He also tore in President Joe Biden's handling of the influx of migrants coming into the country and demanded the president "return Texas land to Texas."
The Republican governor also announced that Texas is funding a $250 million down payment to help pay for a border wall. "It's more than enough to hire a project manager and contractor to begin building the wall. We are committed to adding more resources as needed going forward," Abbott said.
The governor sat at a desk with a small sign in front of him that read "borderwall.texas.gov," the web address where he is directing potential contributors to give donations to help Texas build its own wall.
Abbott spoke of more than $1 billion being allocated from the state budget toward border security, saying that since the federal government is not enforcing federal immigration laws, "Texas taxpayers are having to step up."

(65,089 posts)The wall your pretend god emperor built cost $30,000 per foot.
Your $250 million will build 8,333 feet of wall. About 1.6 miles.
Or, you can put up cyclone fencing and stop nobody.

It did work for Bannon, almost, so I wouldn't doubt if Abbott and trump are thinking they can do a better "scam" than Bannon did, and they can get away with millions of Texas tax payer dollars, along with millions from trumps braindead "cultists".

(65,089 posts)Because I think Gannon (when he's sober) is shrewder than Abbott or that other thing.
If he almost got away with it, those 2 will find a way to screw it up.

(38,567 posts)I asked this question yesterday and didn't get a response.
I did a quick search on eminent domain and border wall, and found that a Federal judge okayed the seizure (by the Federal Government) of private land to build the wall. If this is the case, the land doesn't belong to the state and TX has no rights to build anything on it.

(42,578 posts)He never said a peep about it when that happened. I hope Biden does give that land back to the owners it was seized from and force Abbott to seize it for the state if he wants that wall so bad.
