Kamala and Beto would be a nice ticket. (Original Post) cilla4progress Jun 2021 OP

No, he is not experienced enough. He needs to run for Senate and win. Pisces Jun 2021 #2

Back at the very beginning of the primaries, my pick for who I thought would be the ticket, and who I also thought would be a politically good ticket, was Beto/Kamala.

Kamala, obviously because the strongest and most consistent voting block with Dems are black females, and Beto because he has a strong connection to the Latino community. Now, he's not one of the Castro brothers, but for a White guy, he has a pretty good relationship.

My thinking at the time was together, they could win Texas and Georgia, which would cripple the GOPs future electoral prospects.

Well, back then at the beginning of the primaries, we had recently seen the misogynous reaction to a woman running for POTUS, and we had not yet ever even had a woman elected to VP. Different times.

and he would have to serve out the full term of whatever office he hopefully wins. Winning statewide in Texas would help in running for President in the future but it would have to be later .

Considering how long Republicans have held statewide office in Texas , Democrats would have a lot of work in fixing the problems.

The two of them running together would have had a MUCH better chance of carrying Texas, than Beto running statewide alone. Apples and oranges.

Interestingly, many of them have one thing in common. Kamela is not mentioned as being part of the ticket going forward. THAT is certainly rude.

I understand that Beto needs a bit more experience. But the idea of a woman of color as POTUS and
a rising star reminiscent of Bobby Kennedy as VP was very appetizing.
But I am very happy with Joe Biden and Kamala got on the ticket too. Beto is young, he's passionate
and he will have a future in politics. He's thinking of running for Governor of Texas--there's no harder
campaigner.
