Since the Almeda fire in September, we keep our kitty carriers in our dining room. That way, the carriers are always handy and the furbags are used to being around them, just in case... Plus, it's way easier to get them into a carrier for a vet trip. When it comes time to transport, I always raid my laundry basket and toss in a couple of my t-shirts into the carriers, for momma kitty comfort.
Please continue to check for updates. I know folks in the Klamath area are watching closely. My heart aches for you folks over there. We've already had fires here in Gold Hill, Eagle Point, Ashland... It's going to be another hellish fire season.
Be safe neighbors.

(4,907 posts)The heat in the valley has been kicking up very high winds on the coast. (I'm in Newport). The smoke last year was awful. But nothing like what you guys went through.
Hang in there and pray for rain.
Keep us posted.

(11,772 posts)We used to scoot over every chance we got for a long weekend, when we lived in the Portland Metro area. I'm not seeing much news down in southern Oregon on the Mt. Hood fire, because southern Oregon news channels don't think northern Oregon exists, unless to complain about it. I didn't find out about the Mt. Hood fire until I checked the US Fire Service page. Last I read, you could see the fire from Timberline Lodge and there was zero progress, and it was like 2,300 acres so far. I don't know how they'd fight it with man power, given the terrain. So sad.

(11,772 posts)Officials need to start restricting water on golf courses, businesses with large lawns, crack down on water theft... But, the officials will restrict residential users. May be time to also look at the amount of hemp and marijuana growers in the Rogue Valley, and decide if the numbers are sustainable with our water resources.
