(57,099 posts)... On August 29, 1996, Morris resigned from the Clinton campaign after tabloid reports stated that he had been involved with a prostitute, Sherry Rowlands, as reported by The Washington Post. A New York tabloid newspaper, the Star, had obtained and published a set of photographs allegedly of Morris and the woman on a Washington, D.C., hotel balcony. News of the impending publication broke during the third day of the 1996 Democratic Convention. The Electronic Telegraph reported unverified claims that in order to impress Rowlands, Morris invited her to listen in on his conversations with President Clinton. It was reported that Rowlands worked for $200 an hour and that after he solicited her for sex, Morris gave Rowlands access to President Clinton's campaign speeches before they were delivered and also let her hear the President's voice during a telephone conservation.[20] According to Rowlands, Morris had a fondness for sucking toes.[21][22][23] It was also alleged he had an out-of-wedlock child from an affair with a Texas woman.[24]
Morris resigned on the same day that Bill Clinton spoke and accepted the nomination at the Democratic National Convention. In his resignation statement, he said that "while I served I sought to avoid the limelight because I did not want to become the message. Now, I resign so I will not become the issue."[25] In his response, President Clinton praised Morris as a "friend", and publicly thanked him for his years of service. Privately, several of Clinton's aides were furious that in his resignation statement Morris credited himself with helping the President "come back from being buried in a landslide" and that Morris ended by comparing himself to Robert F. Kennedy.[26]
Morris was featured on two consecutive covers of Time magazine. The September 2, 1996 issue, which was released before the prostitute story broke, featured Morris as "The Man Who Has Clinton's Ear".[7] The following week, the cover featured Morris and his wife, Eileen McGann, and the headline read "The Morris Mess: After the Fall".[26]
In his book Why Just Her, on his defence of the "Washington Madam", Debra Jeane Palfrey, Montgomery Blair Sibley wrote that Morris was a client of Palfrey's escort agency, and the first individual he planned to call in Palfrey's defence.[27]
Later work
In his 1997 book, Behind the Oval Office, Morris wrote that, following an argument in the Arkansas Governor's Mansion in May 1990, he strode toward the exit and was tackled by Clinton. In 2003, Morris further stated that Clinton cocked his arm back to throw a punch, but Hillary Clinton pulled her husband off Morris. In both versions of the story, she consoled Morris and apologized to him, stating that Bill behaved as such only with those he cared for most. According to Morris, she did this to keep him quiet about the incident. He says the incident was the reason for denying Bill Clinton's request to work on the 1992 campaign.[28]
Morris has become a vocal and regular critic of the Clintons since his departure, in particular Hillary Rodham Clinton and her bid for the presidency. Morris has written extensively about the Clintons (see below) and also contributed to Hillary: The Movie, a documentary about Rodham Clinton when she was still a 2008 Presidential candidate.[29] Later, after Bill Clinton's comments about the similarities between Barack Obama's popularity and that of presidential candidate Jesse Jackson in 1988, Morris put out an article on his blog that asserted that this was Clinton's way of injecting race into the political campaign.[30]
Morris is also related to Roy Cohn.

(58,785 posts)His knowledge and intellect were extremely impressive, as was his ability to inform so people understood.
Another of many who found their true home on today's huge Dark Side after damaging respectable careers.
Seemingly previous standards of respectable institutions were only conformed to to get along. Sociopaths?
But, he's probably still as brilliant and knowledgeable as ever.

Perhaps he should talk to a professional about that.

(41,984 posts)He knows not a thing about either CRT or Oedipal Theory.
So, Freud had some ideas that were half baked and his version of Oedipal theory was just that. We dont ascribe to it, we dont teach it (oh, maybe some very old school types do but theyre dying off).
What it eventually evolved into was a more coherent idea that very young infants live in a kind of dreamy state where cause and effect, boundaries between people, etc. are non-existent and they and mother are virtually the same thing. Cry and something magically appears. Its blissful, and wonderful for developing trust, security, and what later becomes love.
Father (another person whos not mother) disabused the infant of that notion over time. Theres someone else! Things can happen in more than one way and still be okay. Its the beginning of imagination, patience, the need to learn, and all sorts of maturity at the early level. It frustrates at first and can create baby anger but its vitally important. That whole sexualizing of the process was a speculation by a man who had an enormous ego and thought he was utterly right. He was never disabused of that notion because he was the first one, but in a great parallel to the process, other analysts and neurologists and psychiatrists and pediatricians added to and refined the perception. And will continue to do so.
The only thing these people are is simple and smug in their simplicity. It would be sad if they didnt get to spout off in so many ways to people who dont know any better. This guy, though, hes just a clown.

(24,412 posts)I think that a lot of times most Democrats (myself included) just recognize how absurd this stuff is that we really have no good idea of how to respond. For the record, I never agreed with "Defund The Police" because I get how that looks and sounds (or might) to most average people and that it was dangerously ripe for right-wing mischaracterization and spin. *I* understood what it meant but the only thing that most people were hearing was taking away money from the police and leaving people defenseless against crime. Of course, there weren't many actual Democrats advocating for it but got slapped with the label anyway. I'm curious about how big of a winner fighting against CRT is going to be for the Republicans. Most people have at least some knowledge and understanding that slavery, Jim Crow, etc. is part of our sordid national history and Republicans are basically attacking an educational/historical theory for pointing that out- and all of the ways those things continue to fuel inequality. They basically want to whitewash (literally) American history and try to pretend racism is over- even though they damn well know it's not.

(90,346 posts)... better and have a clearer message.
Here's a thread on the reports - https://www.democraticunderground.com/100215556872
That's what we need now on CRT an clear message that we support getting rid of segregation and racism and the GQP supports it.
That would make them back down off of CRT quick fast; a hard position on it and then label them as the racist.
There's a post here were it was heat mapped and you can tell that's the new GQP boogyman.
on the subject of DTP
I supported the DTP sentiment too and KNEW it was just that but some people who think democrats who say fuck trump actually want to fuck trump cause they can't tell the difference.
It's crazy how well oiled the GQP message machine is, the one thing that throws salt into that machine is a hard hitting response and the truth about GQP
Mad_Machine76
(24,412 posts)That sounds sort of vague. Hopefully, the report goes into more detail than that.
