I am supposed to get paid every Friday...but since the pay period ends Sunday I have to get through all next week!
Living 25 miles from the job is eating up gas, low on groceries and I just borrowed the last time from my parents...
Trying not to freak.
Otherwise I'm loving the job 😂
Lots of issues cus the previous owners let the resort kinda fall apart before unloading it on Holiday Inn...but I get to help people have a good time despite the problems...
Still lots to learn!

I hope someone here can suggest a way to deal with the lack of a paycheck.

(33,643 posts)Yes they're not cost effective, and it's way better to look for other ways, but if it comes down to having gas to get to your new job or something to eat ... depends how they work where you are though, if you have no check stub you might have a problem there too. Do you own your car outright?
Glad to hear you started ... I remember a little while ago you were stressed on the lack of a call ... I told you not to worry

(57,073 posts)Can you ask boss for an advance?

(15,810 posts)I may have been a bit unclear, but I hope (like you suggest) that the OP tries for an advance from the employer first. If its a union job there is usually a mechanism for it. Better private employers also will allow it if asked.
Or they could ask their parents for another loan until payday.
Those payday loan places are bad news, and have horrible interest rates.

(57,073 posts)You were clear!
Those places will keep a person broke!

(13,360 posts)I just wasnt prepared for it, I thought I had thicker skin and am pretty good at talking people down...
My manager was walking out as I answered the call and got the first round of ranting....she told me what to say and that she had just spoken with director of housekeeping...
so I took her off hold and relayed the message...to get another rant...
So i stuck her on hold and called housekeeping myself... they told the director what I said, and he came TO MY DESK to tell me he was walking to her room himself and handling her...as I relayed that the third rant ensued...
(BTW, I thought I had her happy YESTERDAY, and even comped her a bar tab to make her chill out, bitch!)
I didnt mean to burst into tears in the lobby after hanging up, but ya...so my supervisor told me to go take a break...
Manager had texted during the event to let me know how proud she was of me and that she overheard me handling another guest well earlier...I read that while crying in the bathroom and that made me cry more lol
Trial by FIRE i guess! cant please everyone I guess...
