But it seems pretty 'natural" that on an island (the WTC was on the tip of Manhattan), the ground might be unsettled by the sudden loss of a building. Shockwaves, all that.

The 'missing" count has gone way up. Many South Americans are missing, and the local synagogue rabbi said there were a dozen or so of their congregants in the building.

Besides I would guess people who reside in those adjacent buildings probably are freaked out and wondering if theirs could fail. Likely did not take much convincing to evacuate them.

They will find the bodies. The collapse of just 12 stories or so is not going to pulverize the bodies and there isn’t a raging fire beneath the pile.
