First of all, it would help to keep the focus on what happened on January 6th. Because someone like Greene would not operate in silence. She would likely be very vocal about her beliefs. The same would apply to several of the Republican deniers of insurrection.
If McCarthy chooses to obstruct the Select Committee by appointing people like MTG to it, it might backfire on him in a big way? They may be too smart by half?
This is not something the Democrats should sweat, in my humble opinion.

MTG and her ilk would hinder that effort.
We shall see. I hope you are right and I am wrong.

(52,162 posts)usually there are a ton of meetings that aren't public and only transcripts are released due to the sensitive nature of what is being investigated. That said, I fear that if she is on the committee the public meetings will devolve into idiocy and the press will both sides it.

(52,162 posts)I am assuming that it will be fairly large and many Democrats will want to be on it. The problem with that, is it gives the GOP more slots to fill as well. I wouldn't mind seeing this be a committee of say 11 with a 7 to 4 split though I can see that being a problem given that I am assuming that we have at least 20 Dems who want on this.

Remeber how the republicans milked the Benghazi hearings? And Schumer may have a Senate select committee too.

No, I don't want public liars on the committee in these times of zero fact checking by Fox News, and the inability of real news outfits to find out what really happend in the secret meetings.

(10,272 posts)I thought this was Dem-controlled House issue, and that the GOP removed themselves from consideration with the no vote in the senate?
AFSIK, this is now PURELY Nancy's show, and the GOP can go get bent with what they think should happen.
Am I wrong?
