Donald Trump said Friday that he's fixing his private Boeing 757 and will use it for future rallies.
Trump said the plane will get Rolls-Royce engines and a new paint job.
The plane, dubbed "Trump Force One," has been sitting broken and unused in upstate New York.

Former President Donald Trump announced in a press release Friday that he's fixing his private plane ahead of future rallies. ... "Many people have asked about the beautiful Boeing 757 that became so iconic during the Trump rallies," Trump said. "It is now being fully restored and updated and will be put back into service sometime prior to the end of the year."
Trump's Boeing 757, informally nicknamed "Trump Force One," has been parked at Stewart International Airport in New Windsor, New York, unused since President Joe Biden's Inauguration.
CNN previously reported that one of the plane's pricey Rolls Royce RB211 Turbofan engines was broken and had been removed from the plane awaiting repairs, which could cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Trump said the plane will soon be brought to a service facility in Louisiana for inspection and repairs, including updated Rolls-Royce engines, as well as a new paint job.

(33,163 posts)Annual operating costs:
Pricing
Depending on numerous factors, the average price for a pre-owned BOEING 757-200ER is $20,000,000.00. A $10,000,000.00 loan over 120 months including $41666.67 per month in interest equates to a $501,437.15 per-period payment. Based on 450 annual owner-operated hours and $4.25-per-gallon fuel cost, the BOEING 757-200ER has total variable costs of $3,039,952.50, total fixed costs of $414,150.00, and an annual budget of $3,454,102.50. This breaks down to $7,675.78 per hour."
That's for a 757 generating revenue... Tangerine Idi Amin's is 100% liability.

(7,633 posts)that's probably his plan. He is restarting his rallies and donations. He thinks this will bring him money and somehow shield him from litigation because he is betting the doj won't want to appear to interfere during elections.

(33,163 posts)Real sudden like...
He believes (and maybe partially correctly) that while he's campaigning, he's 'immune' from Federal prosecution. It entirely fits his delay delay delay until the heat blows over MO that he and his lawyers have established over the last 50 years. It gives them an argument, anyway.
On top of that, he's got an entire syndicate... uh, I mean, organization and a few deer-in-the-headlights kids and assorted relatives to throw to the ravening prosecutors in a serial manner to delay things even further.
This is his Hail Mary and it is probably enough to ensure he'll die unindicted without spending a single night in jail.
Nice little justice system we've got set up here.

(26,268 posts)Forgive the lack of documentation, but I did read that if the trump* corporation is charged with crimes, it could suck up every cent he, and possibly even his kids, have left. At least as it relates to trump* company finances. Not sure if Ivanka and her husband have totally separate investments, unrelated to anything trump*.

(12,278 posts)his rallies are nothing but money grabbing and to keep the spirit of hatred, fear, racist and violence alive and well.
Hate tv and radio are on a roll for violence against any opposition.
Some RW newspaper was mailed to my residence. I read a few articles and it was horrible. It's main goal, hate and mistrust the government.

Long story short: To win the presidency, you don't have to win the majority of the popular vote. You have to win the majority of electoral votes that is, 270 of them.* In most states, a candidate wins electoral votes by winning the most voters.
So. Win a state by just one vote, and you win all of its electoral votes (unless you live in Nebraska or Maine, which divvy up their votes a little differently).
This can lead to off-kilter election results in 2000, for example, Democrat Al Gore won the popular vote by a few hundred thousand votes, but lost the presidency by five electoral votes. So we wondered: Just how few votes would a candidate need to win 270 electoral votes?
We decided to find out. A candidate only needs to win the 11 states with the most electoral votes to hit 270. Assuming only two candidates (a big assumption; see below) and that one candidate won all of those states by just one vote, and then didn't win a single vote in any of the other states (or D.C.), how many votes would that candidate have to win? It depends on how you do the math. Either way, it's far less than half.

How To Win An Election With 23 Percent Of The Vote
Starting from the smallest-electoral-vote states, a candidate could have won the presidency in 2012 with only around 23 percent of the popular vote.
{snip the chart}
The idea here is that a voter in a low-population state like Wyoming counts for a larger share of electoral votes than popular votes.
And if one were to start with the largest states, it would be 27 percent. Here's a look at that math:
How To Win An Election With 27 Percent Of The Vote
The below 11 states, combined, would give a candidate 270 electoral votes just over 50 percent of that total and, therefore, enough to win the election (given a two-person race). However, they also together made up only around 27 percent of the popular vote in the 2012 election.

It might be possible to recover a lot of the operating costs by flying charters, but it would require some "adulting" by TFG.
