but that there were supposedly millions of fraudulent votes cast for Secretary Clinton in 2016, his take on how he lost the popular vote two national elections in a row.
Which begs the question: since he was in charge of the Executive branch during the intervening four years, why didn't he take any steps to prevent "fraud" in 2020?
His own narrative casts him, again, as an incompetent and malevolent buffoon. Meaning his response to the supposed (and entirely fictitious) election fraud was as clueless as his response to Covid 19.
Then again, I'm on a fool's errand, trying to parse logic and consistency out of anything MAGA.

(8,069 posts)So either a) there was no fraud and he's been lying all along or b) his incompetence in this and every other field knows no bounds.
But what am I saying? It is an either/or kind of thing. It's both.

(8,069 posts)I would imagine that there are some issues around the honesty of his own vote count.
Unfortunately, to dig into this at present would work to reinforce the whole "we can't trust the vote" BS that the GQP has been pushing. But someday I'd love to see an in-depth review of how the vote was tabulated in Kentucky, to cite just one example.

He says the quiet things out loud, and with gusto.
They have been waiting for a Donald Trumpy forever, its that simple.
He is using an ancient playbook that for the first time in a very long time, longer than the lifetimes of most of his voters, is being used by an American with designs for high office.
He says the things those people have been desperate to hear. He hates the same people they do, he is crass, clueless, humorless, a clumsy, socially inept dullard, dim witted, pedestrian, parochial, clearly racist, small minded, un-lettered, and unapologetically so, and they LOVE him for it.
THEY. LOVE. HIM. FOR. IT.
And if he runs again, he could pull it off, dont think otherwise for one second.

Universal karma, I renew my pledge to strike him down - explode his heart and balance the universe once more...

(24,007 posts)I often referred to him as C to the fifth power - common, crude, coarse, crass, and contemptible. Im going to add clueless - thank you.
I am completely unable to relate to people who find those attributes and behaviors appealing or admirable.

(8,069 posts)The sad part, and this is truly frightening, is that even without any fraud he is clearly a hero to tens of millions of Americans.
And I certainly remain concerned at his continued popularity. That, combined with GOP voter suppression and other tricks, means we ignore his running again at great risk.

And the really sad part is that some people (R's) believe every word he says.
