(111,277 posts)Curiosity, wanting their faith in their god king restored, boredom, a desire to feel normal in a crowd with no masks, and a desire to connect with their glorious past as MAGAts.
What they got was a tired old fat guy hollering into a marginal PA system about how wronged he was because a bunch of libruls took his binky away from him. All those people showing up at the polls are proof there was a terrible conspiracy against him. They left because they were hot, bored, and the mosquitoes were biting.
Oh, I'm not counting them out, they still love their Dear Leader. They just don't want that much discomfort. He goes back into air conditioned sports arenas with lots of seating, they'll turn out to stock up on bullshit.

(47,501 posts)go on and on, many of them realized they'd seen this movie before and there was an episode of Floribama playing that they hadn't watched yet. There is air conditioning at home, ice cold beer in the fridge, and a big screen TV.
For most Trump supporters it was never really about politics and they certainly don't care about government. They liked the drama and excitement of real life reality TV as well as socializing with others of their tribe. There are too many other interesting things to do, why waste more time and money on the man who clearly is a certified loser.

(58,785 posts)The crowds were sympathetic to Trump and eager to hear him announce another run for president. Each of the over half-a-dozen rallygoers interviewed said they wanted Trump to signal he plans to run for a third time in 2024.
I hope hes either looking to run, or run for Speaker of the House, said Richard Stachurski, referring to a rumor circulating among Trump supporters that Trump could potentially run and win a House race, then take over as Speaker.
He did replay lots of old favorites, including leading them in a rousing "Lock her up!" for Hillary.
USA Today seemingly only quoted people who'd driven hours to see him:
Edward X. Young of Brick Township, New Jersey, a 61-year-old horror movie actor, director and makeup artist, drove from his home Friday night and arrived at the Lorain County site 11 hours later. This is my 51st Trump rally, Young said. The last one he said he attended was the Jan. 6 rally in Washington, where people broke into the U.S. Capitol. Young said he did not go into the Capitol. Im very excited about this one. This is the return, said Young, who likened the atmosphere to a rock 'n' roll concert.
Sandra Price, 57, of Walled Lake, Michigan, was hoping Trump would say he has not given up on the 2020 election. I want to re-elect the president, said Price, who was attending her 19th Trump rally. Price said shes upset with GOP members who are not true to conservative principles. Democrats stab me in the chest," she said. "Republicans stab me in the back."

(5,524 posts)It appears like every rally has huge crowds from the immediate area, so Trump believes he has more support than he actually has so he really believes he won. Few new people are at any single rally like your post shows.

I'm with you, of course, but they and he are very dangerous; and, until we know otherwise, they're still with him. Probably many even more determinedly now that they see him as a means of smashing us for good and taking over.

(21,487 posts)I suggest that everyone look at the response from Nick Carmody and read his thread. He describes how Trump and Fox TV are demonizing military leadership because the top brass are an obstacle to a new, successful coup. They sre trying to sever the loyalty of lower ranking officers from the brass in order to encourage RW military rebellion and participation in another coup attempt.

(27,597 posts)QAnon supporters, some of whom are the former president's most fanatical online backers, sent a barrage of messages through the Telegram app that expressed boredom and even anger at the speech Trump described as "the very first rally of the 2022 election." They blasted Trump for not mentioning how his January 6 insurrection supporters are "rotting in jail." And numerous others said Trump should be booed by the Ohio rallygoers for even "bringing up the word 'vaccine,'" specifically because they believe COVID-19 was entirely a hoax.
But a majority of the top QAnon user comments simply expressed their outright boredom with Trump's post-election stump speech, in which he baselessly claimed to have won in November 2020 and blasted any dissenting GOP members as "traitors."
"I'm 100% with the dude, but literally switched from his speech 3 mins ago. Im [sic] done with his speeches," wrote QAnon user Jacob.
