The Capitol rioter known as the 'Q Shaman' will take a test in prison to establish if he is mentally

competent to stand trial.

Jacob Anthony Chansley, the January 6 Capitol rioter dubbed the 'Q Shaman', will take a test in prison aimed at establishing if he is fit to understand the legal case against him, according to court records.

In a filing Saturday, US attorneys said that Chansley would take the test at the Colorado federal prison in Littleton, where he is being detained.

Shirtless and wearing a horned helmet and fur as he walked through the halls of Congress on January 6, Chansley is one of the most recognizable members of the mob of Trump supporters who breached the US Capitol.

He had long been known as an influencer in the QAnon conspiracy theory movement.

If he's not competent he should be committed as a danger to himself and others. IMO the dumbass is just looking for a get out of jail free card.

None of this "not guilty by virtue of insanity" BS. That way the person's guilt is officially established, and they get to go to an institution that will treat that person as a criminal, while providing treatment for the mental disorder, instead of just treating the illness.
Release back into society would have to be based on the penalty allotted for guilt, not just mental recovery.

...is if you're found mentally incompetent to stand trial, they can move you to a psychiatric hospital and KEEP YOU THERE until you are found mentally competent. So...pretending to be insane will not get him the results he wants.

And neither will actually being insane.

John Hinkley, who attempted to assassinate President Reagan, was confined to treatment for 35 years. Who knows how the actual sentencing would have gone, but the sentencing guideline for "assault with intent to kill" in DC has a maximum sentence of 15 years.

A guy in England was acquitted on an insanity defense.
He spent longer in the insane asylum than he would have in prison.
Said it was much harder to prove yourself sane than insane.

other, in a desperate attempt to escape jail, jail and probation, or just probation, or some other combination. None of them are stepping up to the plate claiming they're innocent, I bet. Can't when they got pictures of them in living color on national TV.

Nail everyone of these thugs, in their failed attempts to overthrow the government, including nailing trump and not ever allowing him to run again for any office.
