Prosecutors in New York have given former president Donald Trumps attorneys a deadline of Monday afternoon to make any final arguments as to why the Trump Organization should not face criminal charges over its financial dealings, according to two people familiar with the matter.
That deadline is a strong signal that Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. (D) and New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) now working together, after each has spent more than two years investigating Trumps business are considering criminal charges against the company as an entity.
Here come fireworks! Should be a fun week.

Even if she accidentally found the fill port, she'd not fill the plane because she doesn't want to break a nail after that $400 manicure.

They spew massive amounts of BS, and then they pile it over here, then they pile it over there...

(16,421 posts)I'm sure they know it, but they have to try. Just like defense attorneys have to start a criminal trial by asking for the charges to be dropped.
I don't know why it works that way, but that is the way it seems to work.

(15,646 posts)some legal mumbo jumbo-sounding bullshit about due process being violated by no opportunity being given the "plaintiff to know and respond to the specific charges of concern" with what undoubtedly would be described as "substantial, and likely overwhelming, evidence which would very likely, if not almost certainly, negate and make moot those specific charges".
No doubt the "evidence" would be overwhelming; as in a 45 footer loaded floor to ceiling it's full length with boxes of paperwork showing, if the District Attorney would take the time to pore over and interpret them carefully, The Rump's absolute innocence of any criminal violation.
So ... now that specific and ridiculous argument can be set aside.

They've cooked up a plan by now I'm sure. I believe they're going to stall to the last minute, just as Weisselberg deliberately kept his non-cooperation statement until Friday (iirc. Regardless, that info was conveyed sometime late last week).
Delay delay delay is #Traitor's favorite tactic. They'll answer but it won't be until tomorrow night

(3,496 posts)I mean they've been skirting the law for years. Only after Trump goes high profile (as POTUS) does anyone even lift a finger to take this up?!? Why do some folks get to skirt the laws constantly and get away with it while the rest of us schlubs get the riot act treatment for minor infractions? Justice sure don't seem blind in this country.
Justice matters.

(18,486 posts)Remember, the prosecutors only got the evidence they needed a few months ago.
Cases like this only move quickly on television. In real life, they operate very differently.
