(108,994 posts)And it's usually not humid in the summer, so most of the summer was livable without air conditioning -- till recently.

Hope it's not too crazy!

(6,101 posts)We are heading to Montana on Thursday and will end up in the same heat over there. Probably stay in the motel all the time as daughter's house doesn't have AC as homes over there don't. We are not built for this kind of weather, but nevertheless, we have brought it on ourselves.

(28,342 posts)I'm at 4000ft in the Flathead, it's usually a LOT cooler and almost none of our neighbors have AC. Thank goodness we do.
If you're headed into the Flathead I hope you booked your hotel long, LONG ago because rooms at the super 8 are going for $300+ last i looked.

(23,337 posts)Bozeman-ish area. I think its really hot there too
and hotel rooms are probably long gone there as well. All the hotels here in Missoula are packed
even the crappy ones. Maru, we are overrun with people here from other places
not just tourists. They are HERE. It started last summer and they arent going anywhere. Its weird and I dont like it.
Its 86 degrees right now. 102 tomorrow. Stay cool, neighbor.

(33,400 posts)Heat's supposed to break tonight - if that helps.
My brother almost got stuck there heading back to Bozeman. Had to fly to Billings and a friend drove 2 hours to pick them up.

(11,771 posts)High of 115 again today for us in southern Oregon... I have plants that are literally cooking and crumbling in my fingers when I touch them. My heart is breaking for my lovely gardens. I have blooms opening in the morning and are cooked by 10am. The birds are panting and not straying far from my fountains... Especially sad are our little humming birds, seeing them pant and their heavy breathing. It's desperate times here. We have at least 7 more days of these above 100 days.

(11,771 posts)higher than us! My gardens will Not withstand this heat. None of my plants will, except my few cactus... This heat is incredible. My hanging fuschias were crisped day before yesterday. I have them hanging under my wisteria arbor in full shade and watered... Didn't save them. The heat was so great, by the time I got home from work, they were dead. That tells me the evaporation rate must be very high, because the humidity is very low. I'm just sick. I cannot believe the amount of plants I'm losing each day!

(11,634 posts)It's the opposite here. The temp isn't extremely high but the humidity is.

(4,627 posts)I remember landing in a city when it was 114 degrees outside. The Tarmac was king of spongy.

(856 posts)You probably can't afford a hotel room in Seattle anyway. Even without a heat wave, the last time I was there (at least 20 years ago), the hotels were $300 a night. Can't even imagine what they might be now.
