(8,387 posts)The so and so is about to be indicted category of non-actual-news story is pretty much a bullshit waste of time. Lucy has been yanking that football for years, but some people never seem to notice, and play along.
Its done for the clicks. Eyeball traffic. Come look at our advertising. Its not actual news.
News is about facts. So and so is about to be indicted is not a fact. Its pure speculation - but it is tantalizing enough to lead you on, like next weeks episode of the Lone Ranger.
Lots of stuff gets investigated. Lots of folks testify before grand juries. Lots of stuff also gets dropped for a host of reasons.
At the end of the day, if someone gets indicted for something - GREAT! Thats actual news, and it would be wonderful news that scumbags are going to be tried for their various scumbaggery.
But people cant fucking pull themselves away from the fantasy that the indictment fairy is going to fly down and lock up all the bad people like some baroque vision of the last judgment painted above the altar of a church somewhere.
And, this genre of bullshit is popular for the same reason as those sorts of medieval paintings. It is not only comforting to believe that those bastards are going to get whats coming to them, but it is also useful to keep people in line, or else they might catch on to the fact that those bastards are doing fine and not going anywhere.
Dont worry. Keep on keeping on. Youll be rewarded in the next life and those bastards wont.

(3,399 posts)but, first, I don't think he is a billionaire, and even if he is, he owes more than he is worth...
and...EVEN IF HE IS...I think the democrats are going to make an example out of him to the other "billionaires" out there...you are not exempt from our laws.
There has never been a more deserving example of total and absolute corruption and disregard for our laws.
He needs to brought to justice!

Did you ever see "A Fish Named Wanda"?
One of the all time great movies with an amazing cast.
Don't want to hijack your response, but just had to when you mentioned goldfish.
Sorry.

There has been rampant speculation based on various signals people are reading, but we don't actually have the first clue of what the investigators and prosecutors are doing and what their timing is for doing it. Nevertheless, folks get all worked up assuming something's going to happen tomorrow or the next day or next week and then get frustrated and disappointed when their baseless speculation doesn't pan out.
As they say, those who talk don't know and those who know don't talk.
This will happen when it happens. People need to be patient - and if they can't be patient, they at least shouldn't expect things to happen on a timeline based on no actual information.
