Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) made a rare intervention into a Democratic party primary, endorsing Shontel Brown (D) in the race for a Cleveland congressional seat, the New York Times reports.

Clyburn’s endorsement of Brown over progressive Nina Turner (D) — who is surging in her campaign and is an outspoken ally of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) —highlights an ideological and generational rift in the Democratic party.

1. Jim Clyburn has the best democratic party political instincts, I think

2. From my perspective any Democrat except Turner in Ohio would be fine. What Turner

did to Hillary. and tried to do to Biden by misrepresentations and falsehoods in 2016 and 2020, are not leadership qualities in a representative.

I am just an outsider though, and it will be up to the people in that district to decide who they want to represent them

5. Unfortunately the poll numbers favor Turner, and the number of candidates also favor Turner.

Though I am not a fan of ranked voting, this race would be very interesting if it involved rank choice voting because of so many candidates running
