I suppose the 19 knew in their hearts what happened but are afraid of the Trumpist mob?

(19,204 posts)Too afraid to let their constituents know they voted for it, and too afraid to let the Trump-Thumpers know they voted against it. Fence sitting chicken shits.

(111,359 posts)Between Epstein and the Russians, I imagine Dumdum had a lot of dirt on a lot of people, especially the ones who got into office on the god vote. The no shows didn't have the courage to vote yes. Or they were all too aware their hands are bloody and wanted to show their contempt to anyone who wants them caught.

(25,983 posts)The House approved the legislation introduced by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Resolution 503, by a vote of 222-190 with just two Republicans, Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, voting along with their Democratic colleagues to create the panel.
The committee will be made up of 13 members that Pelosi will select, with five selections made "in consultation" with Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy.

(6,934 posts)I would be lobbying hard to get two of the five Republican committee members to be Cheney and Kinzinger.

(15,809 posts)Cspan showed the "debate", and the stuff coming from republicans was, at best, embarrassing. One of them (and I didn't note his name) went full whataboutism when he whined that Democrats didn't demand an investigation of the shooting at the baseball field (when Scalise was shot); he claimed that Republicans were the only ones targetted, that the only Democrat on the field was the shooter. Then he huffed off like he'd done the all-time mic drop. Pathetic.

(269,188 posts)Democracy and the Constitution be damned. I don't remember an investigation when Gabby Giffords was shot and nearly killed.
