as Trump mini-me. From what I've read, the MAGAts are furious with him for meeting with the president yesterday.

Surfside has him stuck between a rock and hard place, politically. He's got to look like he's handling things well - he's got a governor's race coming up. That means taking aid from the Federal government. He's got to look statesmanlike. That means meeting with POTUS and doing press conferences with Debbie W-S behind him.

But he knows this is killing his presidential aspirations. He'll get nowhere without the cultists.

He'll hold a couple rallies with Trump this year and all will be right in MAGAland. He's just doing what he what he needs to in order to make sure he doesn't torpedo the governors race next year.

I didn’t even think about hurricane season! If FL gets a big one…and I really hope that doesn’t happen…He will have to play nice with the federal government for the sake of FL citizens impacted by the storm(s). The gymnastics of it all will be something to see.

He won't say anything bad about TFG, not at all, but he is starting to create distance - at least that's how this looks.

It is going to take some magic to run and retain the far-right base of Trump followers. Republicans simply can not win a national election without the rightwingnuts. What DeSantis needs is for Trump to be disqualified or dead. If the dump makes it for another 3.5 years, DeSantis' will have a big problem, if not, his chances are good.

As much as I hate to say it, it may be better for America if Trump avoids any criminal convictions and retains his health, because I don't believe he can win the election, but he could keep DeSantis from winning it.

It is a long time before the next elections. Perhaps the Democrats can show that their way of governing is preferable, to a majority of people, rather than taking chances on dictator wannabes.
