Corruption was permitted to flourish. Criminals were celebrated and pardoned. The laws were handcuffed and thrown in the garbage can. No one was held accountable for anything.
Merrick Garland has been appointed to pick up the pieces. It will not be an easy task. But, the solution is not to simply look forward. There must be accountability.
Many people have become discouraged and have lost faith in our justice system. It has gotten to the point where they expect Donald Trump to shoot someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue and get away with it. The Justice Department must be fixed.
Four years is a long time without justice. Folks have run out of patience. The indictment of Weisselberg yesterday may begin the process of restoring justice to our democracy?

(10,072 posts)I have not heard how that went and does it have to wait until Sept? Is that the holdup? He will need more prosecutors and investigators to go after so many criminals, just within the WH and cabinet.

(43,293 posts)Garland is trying to steer to the middle. But everywhere you look there are entrenched saboteurs waiting for their moment. Most of these people would refuse to bake a cake if it supported their cause.
