https://www.change.org/p/hot-dog-lovers-heinz-hot-dog-pact10 Wieners. 10 Buns. Its time.
Hot dog wieners come in packs of 10. Hot dog buns come in packs of 8. WHY?! As the condiment that has been bringing foods together for over 150 years, weve decided enough is enough. Thats why we started the Heinz Hot Dog Pact. Were calling on Big Bun and Big Wiener companies to find the answer to this hot dog packaging mismatch, once and for all. We need your signatures more than ever. Lets change hot dog history together.

The most northern American arm of the popular condiment manufacturer is getting involved in this decades-long struggle about the mismatched snack food and its proper accompaniment.
In a new video, the Toronto-headquartered company stresses how hot dogs often come in packs of 10, while hot-dog buns regularly come in groups of eight. In addition to the video, the company posted an online petition urging Big Bun and Big Wiener to get together and put 10 hot dogs in a package and 10 buns in a package.
Although it doesnt make any of the meats, proteins (or even plant-based offerings) to put on the buns, Heinz does have a dog in this race. Its iconic ketchup is a condiment many people use on hot dogs and many think should never come anywhere near a hot dog.

Pretty sure this qualifies as First World Problems

(13,601 posts)It's not like I can't find a good use for a leftover hoagie roll, but it's nice to not end up with a dog and no bun.

(10,156 posts)Use bread instead of buns, problem solved. Or are there people who are weird about putting a dog on a slice of bread? I did that shit growing up since we didn't have a lot of money and buns weren't cheap. Sometimes I had hot dogs in a tortilla.

(42,862 posts)... the all-beef bun-length ones are vacuum sealed in two 4-packs. Each four-pack can be re-zipped closed if needed (but we never need to).

I couldn't figure that out until I realized that they go by weight.
Not much in life is perfect and deciding what to do with the extra bun is a creative challenge.
