Good trouble.

My Democratic colleagues and I are leaving the state to break quorum and kill the Texas voter suppression bill.

We’re flying to DC to demand Congress pass the For The People Act and save our democracy.

By all democratic means necessary...

When the Texas Lege meets every other year I believe the pay for elected officials is $7000. Except that in this case, Abbot has defunded all the salaries this year. Including pay for their aides.

A lot of the Democrats were talked into running. In past years Republicans ran unopposed in many races. Many of those who won are not independently wealthy. Some have to take leave from their rather ordinary jobs/careers/businesses. They can not really afford to do this. I assume that’s why some of them are taking a bus to D.C., instead of flying.

I don’t really know what the rules, but theey need to be financially supported on this.

Each day they are out of state would be a prime opportunity to go item by item in the Texas Republicans bill and present to the country why it is bad for democracy. Show the country why they had to leave Texas to stop this bad bill.
