(95,255 posts)This is straight out of Mr. Adam Smith: there is no shortage of labor, there is a shortage of labor at the price employers wish to pay to obtain it. Just like any other good on the market.

My job is building banking systems with a focus on automated possessing, which eliminates back office review and processing jobs.
The current swing of power I'm favor of the worker is going to be temporary, automation and robotics will be eliminating jobs by the millions later this decade.

(35,091 posts)Do you wanna commute out to this place that is outside the range of public transportation, if your town is lucky enough to have it at all, on your dime?
Do you wanna get treated like garbage by Karens and people who take "the customer is always right" cliche to act like entitled royalty at your expense with their psychotic demands and attacks on your tone of speech even?
Do you wanna work hard and watch other people less qualified than you use superficial charm to get promoted while you are going to be stuck in the same position?
Do you wanna work hard and do all the work while managers yuk it up in the office?
And do you wanna do it all for low wages and no benefits?
If you said "yes" to the above, then you are a good fit for "unskilled" labor.
So maybe there's a masochist shortage?
