This guy had announced he was running for Governor
..
Charlie Gerow, a Republican who announced his candidacy for governor last month, said Friday that he is cooperating with a police investigation into an accident in which a motorcyclist was killed, and that shut down the Pennsylvania Turnpike for seven hours.
Gerow apparently drove for several miles with the motorcycle stuck to the front of his car, according to a witness. In a statement through a spokesperson, Gerow said he did not cause the accident and he was not injured.

At the very least, he should be charged for leaving the scene of an accident and hit and run.
Just more Im not responsible bullshit from the party of personal responsibility.

(4,552 posts)They want a package tax. We would have to pay a tax for every package delivered. They want to fix roads with the money. We already have the second highest fuel tax in the nation because republicans under Corbett. raised our fuel taxes.
Repukes always promise not to raise taxes and fix everything without raising taxes. Then they get elected and raise taxes. Republicans lie constantly.

(17,204 posts)One thing that proves the GOP are not all about money is their continued, steadfast refusal to take advantage of the huge amount of tax revenue that legalizing marijuana would provide. It ought to be a no-brainer.

(54,405 posts)Their motto seems to really be, "if you're rich, you deserve it, and if you're poor, you deserve it."
If they are against higher taxes, it's not because they are all billionaires looking to hide cash they'll never live to spend anyway. There are less than 800 billionaires in the USA, where there are over 74 million Americans who voted for Trump. That leaves over 73,999,200 non-billionaire Trump voters. My opinion is that they just don't think there's anyone out there deserving of any of the goods or services the increased tax revenue could provide, including themselves (i.e. ignorance really IS bliss).
They don't seem overly concerned how anyone got their money, either. If you earned it honestly, fine. If you stole it, that's fine, too, as long as you didn't get caught (i.e. Trump, good, Madoff, bad). That other saying also applies to them: Steal $100 and you're a criminal, but steal $100 million, and you're a hero. To a Republican, put the criminal in jail, give the hero a nightly interview on Fox Noise, and all is right with the world.

(3,496 posts)The posted speed limit is 70 mph, which is absolutely insane. That part of the Turnpike was built before the Interstates were federally mandated. It wasn't designed for that speed. The sight lines are crappy, as are the shoulders. Not to mention that section has a ton of traffic during normal rush hour interspersed with trucks, who also try to go 70 mph. Large semis carrying trash from Philly to the landfill out in Berks County also can contribute to the insanity of that stretch of road. Those drivers get paid by the load so if they push it they could get 3 runs a day.
The guy on the bike was from Bedford County, about 4 hours west of the accident. Don't know if he was familiar with that stretch of road but I barely feel safe driving it in a car. I can't imagine being on a bike riding there during rush hour. Not to excuse Gerow, because something stinks real bad here.

A State Police report on the incident made public Thursday does not name Gerow. It says only that the crash involved a Honda motorcycle and a Mercedes Benz 300, both traveling westbound on the turnpike. It did not identify the man who was killed.
>>>>>
Nicholas Forgette, a highway construction worker who was working on the turnpike Wednesday evening, said he was on the opposite side of the highway when he saw Gerows car pass by with a motorcycle wedged into the grill of the car.
In an interview Friday, Forgette said the first thing he noticed were sparks coming off a car that was traveling at a high rate of speed in the westbound lanes of the turnpike. He and members of his construction crew who were with him were dumbstruck, he said.
Everyone was in disbelief, he said. That is not something you see every day. It was a big motorcycle, too. There were a bunch of sparks. And it was very loud.

I wonder what kind of car Gerow drives?
