A state lawmaker who has flouted the Legislatures rules on mask-wearing and downplayed the pandemic says he has contracted COVID-19.
Rep. Chris A. Johansen, R-Monticello, on Friday told the Press Herald only that he wasnt feeling well and didnt stay on the phone long enough to be asked whether he has the virus. However, a reporter for Mainer News, an alternative weekly, contacted Johansen and recorded him saying that he has COVID-19 and is really, really sick.
Johansens wife, Cindy Johansen, who is an officer for the Aroostook County Republican committee, posted on Facebook that she has COVID-19 as well.
Contacted by the Press Herald on Friday afternoon, Chris Johansen said, Im not doing well. Im not feeling well, and Im not talking to people right now, and then he hung up. He did not reply to a text message seeking more information.

(44,973 posts)As far as I can tell, this dude didn't wear masks, presumably didn't vaccinate, and so he was an easy target for delta.

(10,279 posts)jab them with the vaccine. Would that provide a benefit? From all that I read about that, it will not.

Nature doesn't care if you're Democrat or Republican, conservative or progressive.
If you're unvaccinated and get the disease, you've got a 1%-2% chance of dying.
Roll them dice, dumbass.

(10,192 posts)It's abundantly evident the only people becoming seriously ill now are imbeciles who have denied or ignored the dangers of Covid-19 and refused to be vaccinated. Surely it should have already dawned on them they're the only ones being hospitalized and dying. The stupidity is shocking, it defies understanding.

(51,284 posts)We were all really surprised that [conservative rural white men] ended up being our most vaccine-hesitant population, and its not necessarily because of mistrust of government, its because of an ideology that if I get this vaccine I am somehow placating the left wing of the political spectrum, she said.
To see people sacrificing their own health and wellbeing and that of their families and community to spite this perceived political benefit to the left is just really dumbfounding.
