The day after almost being rushed to death, after being beaten, sprayed with chemicals, crushed by a mob he said
it was his pleasure to "crush a white nationalist insurrection."
"If it wasn't my job I would have done that for free. It was absolutely my pleasure to crush a white nationalist insurrection," Daniel Hodges told NBC. "I'm glad I was in a position to be able to help. We'll do it as many times as it takes."
Hodges said he was pinned to the doorway while trying to push back the mob.
"They ripped my mask off. Stole my equipment. Beat me up. Sprayed me with everything," he said.

(4,986 posts)Ofc Hodges describing the flags the terrorists wielded
How some of them fashioned themselves as Christians based on the flags, or police supporters carrying thin blue lines to attack him.
Oh man, he describes an attacker wanting the cops and everyone to pause for him because he had asthma. As if the attack was to be at his convenience - I could see from Ofc Hodges expression how is one of many moments that just burns for him.
Then he described his head injury requiring him to call for help, that he feared he wouldnt be able to stay standing much longer. That hed turn into a liability for the rest of the force or be dragged out into the crowd and lynched. How he took up a different post until reinforcements arrived, clapping when they finally appeared.
Is all forceful testimony of trauma and violence caused by the terrorists that day.

Typically, I live comment on DU for important hearing. I find myself mostly listening, and watching as an American feeling betrayed and just needing the truth. Was gonna post this earlier, but got caught up emotionally.

(4,986 posts)Wisps of what I saw and heard:
I started to become overwhelmed listening between them. The abuse from the crowd kept clanging through. Ofc Dunn said hed never been called the n-word while wearing the Capitol uniform. My heart about stopped right there. Then, later, he commented on how difficult it was going back Jan 7, subsequent days, and how taking down the barrier around the Capitol was trying as well.
Sober words from Ofc Gonell comparing the difference between serving in a war zone vs. at the Capitol how you can be mentally prepared for serving within battlements, but fighting off citizens in your own country is something else. He said at one point that, he (tRump) never sacrificed anything, but our institutions. That he sacrificed our institutions for his ego.
Found I couldnt relate their testimony well enough, fast enough. Watch lengthy segments later today if you can.

(25,983 posts)It was the only time he was briefly but visibly angry. "I came prepared" is right, and thanks to him for having the federal code re domestic terrorism read into the record. All of the were stellar, really - Jan 6 and today.

(20,219 posts)They believe WE do what they actually do, because their propaganda tells them so.
They believe US to be rampaging across the country, and that belief instinctively tells them to meet this imagined force with equal force of their own.
And empowered this way, they feel vindicated by attacking The Left. Feeling rageful and vindicated is a strong potion.
