"I'll never apologize for keeping you safe"

That was a Dick Cheney and Neo-Con line during the war on terror that they often used to cover up their mistakes.
I think it is a line that Democrats can use defend their Covid restrictions.

The fight against covid is real and legitimate. But explaining it to the right wingers takes much longer than the their attention spans can reach.
So just use the NeoCon bumper sticker to shut them up.
