It was good to see for sure. Cynical me was afraid the percent went up because of a decrease in population (Covid deaths).

even a tiny dent in population or population growth. The 630,000 or so who've died in this country amount to a bit less than .002 of our total population, which is 2 tenths of one percent. Meanwhile, more than 10,000 babies are born every day in this country alone. Worldwide some 385,000 babies are born every day. Every day.

I don't want to be down playing the seriousness of the Covid, but understanding numbers is crucial. Unless or until more people are dying than are being born, those Covid deaths will have zero impact on population. And that's highly unlikely to happen.

Something else about Covid numbers. People think that because we've had so very many die so far, this country is doing absolutely the worst in the world. Not true. In terms of deaths per million, 20 other countries have worse numbers. People forget we're the third most populous country on the planet. Not to mention that a lot of people think that India's deaths may well be ten times more than they've reported. I also suspect that China's real numbers are significantly higher than reported, but they're doing a fantastic job of simply not reporting most of them.

I welcomed the five+ days I felt like hell after the second Moderna jab, I knew that meant those sweet, sweet antibodies were bubbling in me.

Know what makes you actually sick? COVID.

they can own the libs by getting vaccinated. Or they can continue to own the libs by getting infected and spreading it to others. Either way, it's Hillary's emails. Benghazi!

I live near a Jesus, guns, dollar store, Trump paradise, Canton, North Carolina. Paper Mill supported, rich in Dioxin poison, they call the stench in the air, “The smell of money”. I rarely go near it but had to pass through to go get my motorcycle inspection. To my surprise, there was a Covid tent set up at the city recreation park. Not sure how many mingling around were workers or a few that wanted the Vax. The lack of a line was not encouraging, but the lack of hundreds of rabid, raging, illiterate, liberal assassin, masholes screaming about gubment chips in shots and race changing Biden mandated injections, anti FreeDumb fighters, gave me some hope. Small steps for mankind. 🤔

I live in a neighboring county to you, and this red political region is also a very red covid region.
Cases and hospitalizations are overwhelming the medical community right now.

Meanwhile, we see a lot of tourists and travellers and visitors from all over, but especially other southern states that have higher numbers than we do.

I work retail on main street, and I've noticed more people wearing masks over the past few weeks, and a few businesses who are planning incentives to get vaccinated if not already, and requiring masks. All employees and bosses are vaccinated where I work. 1 boss and I kept wearing our masks after, but other employees and boss did not. They are all wearing masks now, which I'm relieved about.

When someone comes into the store and now sees all of us masked they ask if they need to and often put one on too. Peer pressure, conformity, fear we're not vaccinated, whatever gets them to wear a mask is a good thing.

I don't know about the vaccination activity here, but I know it's readily available.

I do know numbers and in simple terms, in some areas they have 90% and other areas (like here) have 50% and that averages to 70% vaccinated, a great number for the US but many states and communities likely have lower numbers which is why it's surging in mostly red areas.

Stay safe. Wear a mask.

I double mask. Main Street Waynesville is 100 percent tourists accommodating. Many locals can’t afford much anything there. I stay away. Couple of great mini brew pubs but, I just do not feel safe there with all tourists, and masks are rare. A great dog bakery there, so Last Friday took a quick stop to get my girls some treats. Use to be recently, all the staff were masked. This time none were. NO custermers were masked and forget distancing. Packed with tourist. Last week, went to a local hardware store to avoid Lowe’s to get a hose nozzle. Zero masks. I was stared at hard by everyone there because I had a mask. I left with my money. The problem is so many locals will never mask or Vax, and all this tourists movement coming here from area’s with state of emergency conditions is just gonna blow this region up. Other than Mission in Asheville, these local rural hospitals have zero capacity for what is gonna come. My daughter is an ICU nurse at mission. Yea, I am very worried. But thank God for my Forests and no trail areas I can stay in away from it all. Stay safe, sounds like there are some good folks around you at your work place.

I do what I can to stay as safe as possible. Never stopped wearing a mask either. Tons of tourists here too, even during covid but so many more since the vaccine this year. Many who are traveling or visiting have been vaccinated, which is why they feel able to travel.

We've had and will have various outdoor summer concerts here in town, but they're crowded and I can't bring myself to attend any, although over the years I'd often go to many, at least for a short time. Our town is still planning our huge apple festival on labor day weekend, and I'm not looking forward to it. I'll have to work. I spend a lot of time outdoors in my garden.

Here too, a local pet boutique was very cautious but now only 1 employee is wearing a mask.
Still, with Delta I think we'll see more people wearing them, the smart ones at least. Lol

I think Governor Cooper made a huge mistake last week in letting the mask mandate expire, just as the Delta wave is rising. The resulting crash could be huge and disastrous. The patient load in the hospitals is already being felt. One of the UNC-owned local hospitals is already full of COVID patients and asking people NOT to come to the ED for things that can be treated at Urgent Care centers (heard that on the local NPR station, WUNC, yesterday).

I'm thinking that the last 30% - 20% will never get vaccinated.

These are Trump's deplorables...the backwash of society...that would rather endanger us all, or even die, than take it.

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) - A St. Louis City resident who attended the St. Louis County Council meeting where the mask mandate was overturned has tested positive for COVID-19, health officials tell News 4.

Hundreds of people attended Tuesday's meeting, most to protest a mask mandate
