Fox News host Tucker Carlson is billed as a speaker at a far-right conference in Hungary on Saturday, according to a flier for the event. The appearance will come days after the Fox host met with the countrys Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Carlson will purportedly offer his insights at MCC Feszt, an event hosted by the Mathias Corvinus Collegium, which the New York Times described in June as a government-funded plan to train a conservative future elite.
A program for MCC Feszt touts Carlson as speaking on Saturday, delivering a talk called The World According to Tucker Carlson.
Its part of a larger, four-day long program that also advertises a talk from a representative of one of Americas esteemed conservative institutions of higher education: Dennis Prager of PragerU, which makes up for what it lacks in physical space, accreditation, and discernible curriculum in Facebook virality. Prager will deliver a talk on media and free speech.

(54,437 posts)Orbán is a pariah in just about every EU state with the possible exception of Poland, where a like-minded (but less extreme) leadership is in place. After 30 years and a new generation born without having been part of a de facto Soviet Empire, it is a little passé to say the current Hungarian regime is acting as a bulwark against the return of communism. Orbán has a slight advantage of running a country who has zero linguistic connection to its neighbors--pretty much the opposite of Switzerland. The Hungarian-speaking minority in Romania, often treated like trash, used to look to Hungary as their guiding light. Now, with corruption in both their country of residence and their cultural homeland, they are really screwed.
Hungary is not without its fascist past. It allied with Nazi Germany in World War II. A far right ideology is not some foreign plague brought in from outside. The tendencies, formerly suppressed, were always there in parts of their people, and now they are in full bloom. To most of Europe, to be seen hanging around with Orbán is the career kiss of death for any head of state or prominent public figure not already a member of the far right. To Tucker Carlson, apparently, it is an honor. Oh, well. Dennis Rodman liked to hang around in North Korea, too.
Chacun à son goût.
