Woman from KS who is overweight, with high blood pressure and known lung issues, goes on a family vacation to Florida ... FLORIDA. They all get it. She dies. Of course, none of them were vaccinated. Now, the family has set up a GoFundMe asking for help to transport their mother's body back to KS and for funeral expenses. Is it wrong for me to be absolutely fuming???

(4,044 posts)They lost their Mom and are now going to get vaxxed. They paid a terrible price.
I, for one, will not fund them.
These people are defeated and frankly, pathetic. You should not waste your energies on them.
Save your righteous anger for those who are actively fighting against us, like the governors of certain southern states.
Peace to you.

(22,808 posts)And someone needs to tell the family that FEMA will help with that funeral.
Under the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, FEMA is providing financial assistance for COVID-19 related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020.

(3,326 posts)as ignorant and ridiculous as these people are, I find it impossible not to feel a twinge of sympathy.
Fuck-head head trump holds the majority of the blame for the obliviousness these folks have/had.
It is a choice to give or not give for their fund-raising.

Them begging for money because they played Russian Roulette and lost seems as good a place as any to shrug shoulders and move on.

Reactions to the story range from sympathy for the family (understood), anger at those pointing out that she/they sort of brought this on themselves to words much more harsh than mine. I am not an unfeeling person. I DO have sympathy for their loss. But I draw the line at being asked to donate to someone who had the money for a big family vacation to Florida but didn't think of the possible consequences of those actions.
I AM glad they are now getting vaccinated. And maybe this story will convince others to get vaccinated as well. Let's hope so.
