Rudy Giuliani Admits Lying About Hillary Clinton's Emails In 2016
https://crooksandliars.com/2021/08/rudy-giuliani-admits-lying-about-hillary
This is when Giuliani began his run as the presidential ratf**ker.
By John Amato
Rudy Giuliani gave a voluntary interview to the Department of Justice's Inspector General and admitted that in October 2016, a few days before the presidential election took place, he lied and said he heard rumors from his FBI friends about an active investigation against Hillary Clinton.
"I think hes got a surprise or two that youre going to hear about in the next few days. I mean, Im talking about some pretty big surprises, Giuliani said.
This was unceremoniously repeated around Facebook, Twitter, and famously on Fox News over and over again.
As The Daily Beast reports two days later idiot FBI director James Comey informed Republican House leaders he reopened an inquiry into whether Hillary Clinton had mishandled classified information.
This turned out to be the turning point of the 2016 election, flipping it to Traitor Trump. The country is still trying to recover from his four-year reign of incompetence.
.................................
Giuliani previously went on ABC and Fox News and claimed that Hillary Clinton was very ill with no proof except to say he saw it on Google. He used more than whisper campaigns to smear the Democratic challenger for the presidency..........................................................

"...still trying..."? WTF
It's barely been 6 months since President Biden took office. The damages that Trump inflicted will take years to correct. What is this article's writer thinking?

(11,879 posts)I call this the New Jersification of national politics. Since I was a young voter in NJ, I've seen Republican governors crash and burn and Democrats then elected to dig out, then the ratfucking begins...the drumbeat from the press and the Republicans, that nothing is being fixed quickly enough. The Democrat is then swept out, the Republicans crash the plane again... rinse ...repeat.
Now we see this play out on a national level.
Ultimately this is on the voters who do not understand the magnitude of the damage, demanding unrealistic timelines for fixes and punishing the politicians that WANT to fix the problems when their unrealistic expectations are not met. I also blame the media for their bothsiderism and constant carping on those unrealistic expectations.
Here's where Joe can break the cycle. The voters get angry because they do not get the deliverables they want quickly enough. That's where the Republicans find their pay dirt by dragging the process down and causing the Democrats to fail. Like it or not, this is where bitartisanism and learning to take the half loaf may pay off. I say may... because the divide in this country has become so deep and so vituperous that I fear no one can fix this.

(10,078 posts)They want fixes to THEIR problemsmainly that LGBTQ are allowed to exist and have rights, women are allowed to have abortions instead of being punished for an unwanted pregnancy, minorities are allowed to have jobs that white people reserve for themselves and theyre allowed to live in white neighborhoods where their kids can go to school with those pure white children, making sure theyre allowed to have as many guns as possible (even if theyre criminals) and carry them publicly as a threat to other people, and promising that the US will become a Christian nation with the Bible as law. And theyre perfectly fine with rigging elections and using violence to elect Republicans who will pass ever more draconian laws to try to take away the rights of the people they dont like.
Climate change, infrastructure, cyber security, foreign policynone of that matters to the Republican voters who still support Trump and the Big Lie. Sadly, thats probably less than the 74 million who voted for him, but still far too many who vote for lies rather than reality.

Those are a subset of the R party. EVERYONE likes deliverables. Problem is they have not been getting ANY. Now they are and they will like them... and they will come along. It will not happen overnight and may not happen enough in a 2-4year span. THAT is the problem. That is where the backlash comes in.

(21,611 posts)the deliverables now. It might help in 2022 midterms to point out over and over that Republicans are standing in the way of the improvements that the people want. As delta spreads through red states and regions it is more obvious that Republican anti pandemic measures are causing it.

(7,286 posts)When did this interview with the DOJ take place, when was it revealed to the public, and who is the source?
Is this being mentioned on cable news and is it being reported as "Breaking News" ?

I believe it is more likely that the actual lie is the so-called admission that he lied.
In other words, during the investigation of whether Rudy was provided with inside information ahead of the October 2016 Comey announcement, Rudy said he had no such inside information.
To believe this admission, you must also believe that Rudy is a remarkably good guesser.
In the search for a catchy headline, the Daily Beast missed the actual story here, which is much more serious.
This may also relate to the recent search of Giulianos effects.

(7,286 posts)I rely on op titles to reflect on the pertinent subject.
it used to be a thing here....

(8,387 posts)The real story here is the incredible statement to the OIG that he had no advance knowledge that certain NY FBI/DoJ folks were going to try to pull a fast one before the election.
Obviously, the lie would be "No, I was just going on rumors and guesses."
The entire "Giuliani admits lying to the media" thing is really "Giuliani probably lying to the OIG to protect his and other's asses" since there is no penalty for lying to the media.
But, look at the other reactions in this thread. Sigh.
msfiddlestix
(7,286 posts)I'm seeing quite a number of old stories, seriously outdated-common knowledge reporting as the story was about something that just happened or was just revealed for the first time ever, and that is another bit that I find frustrating.
I'm thinking, wow another slow news day I guess.
or an OP that nails the story, but with long thread of comments which are in no way related to the OP!
just gotta laugh it off....

(47,602 posts)With republican politicians, they are primarily performance with no actual substance. Lying or exaggerating is okay when the objective is winning.

(47,602 posts)well, unless the other side does it. Some people go into politics to serve, to make a difference, others crave power and believe winning is everything. It becomes a mindset that obscures everything else. Then they are often surprised when they get caught and held accountable, because they were just trying to win like it is warfare.

(34,857 posts)So, that isn't the lie. I have no doubt some of his friends in the courts up in New York tipped him off to the fact the FBI had found possible new emails on Weiner's laptop and that they would be announcing this.
So is the lie here that he said he was making it up to protect himself or what?
But it's far too big of a coincidence that he said what he said days before the Comey Letter dropped. He absolutely knew.
