My daughter is pregnant with twins, can she get vaccinated ?

She keeps telling me she can't and will not but I am so worried because she and her guy go around unmasked and my grandson starts school soon.
My whole family are anti vaxx trumpers, I really worry that someone in the family is going to get it bad.
I was thinking I will offer her money to get vaccinated.

…by them, and it never goes away. My only sibling, a younger brother, died in 1978 when he was only 23. He had no children, so my kids have no cousins. I feel wistful every time I hear someone talk about their kids getting together with cousins.

Here’s a hug

I think it would be very misguided to ignore the risk

Your daughter should discuss this with her obstetrician. Any credible obstetrician is going to recommend the vaccine. Not only will it protect the mother, but evidence shows that antibodies are transferred to the baby

Not trying to discredit the brilliance of this forum (I assume all of us would be card-carrying Mensas if there wasn't a membership fee), but crowdsourcing medical advice for your daughter is perhaps not the source of the best, safest information.

I would encourage her to ask her doc NOW what the best course of action is for herself and her babies.

While I believe it is safe, I carry the credentials of a retired telephone engineer. I don't even play a doctor on TV!

Here in NM. Another good friend that’s a nurse in Dallas was vaccinated. I continue to read about this (vaccinated while pregnant) and outcomes continue to be good and the newborns have some immunity at birth. Important because exposure will start the moment the babies are born in the hospital.

I can understand that your daughter is nervous. She should consult with her OB.

Her doctor recommended that she have the Covid vaccine as soon as she was able to get it and that was at the end of her 2nd trimester. Her next door neighbor, who I do not know personally is also pregnant and wasn’t yet vaccinated and her doctor also urged her to get vaccinated ASAP. She apparently followed doctors orders when she otherwise would not have gotten the shot.

My daughter and daughter-in-law were both vaccinated while pregnant. Their doctors demanded it. My niece was hesitant, but found out she had to have a C Section and had to scramble to get the J&J so she would be past the post vaccine waiting time before surgery. All babies are perfect and (hopefully) have some immunity.

Fortunately, they were able to save the baby. She believed she shouldn't get vaccinated because she was pregnant.
