#BREAKING: @GovRonDeSantis office released a statement to #CBS4 that @EducationFL could withhold the salaries of superintendents and school board members who implement #maskmandates. Full statementHere is the statement released to CBS4:
With respect to enforcing any financial consequences for noncompliance of state law regarding these rules and ultimately the rights of parents to make decisions about their childrens education and health care decisions, it would be the goal of the State Board of Education to narrowly tailor any financial consequences to the offense committed. For example, the State Board of Education could move to withhold the salary of the district superintendent or school board members, as a narrowly tailored means to address the decision-makers who led to the violation of law.

(13,186 posts)Trying to punish people over money who are making a stand over the health of the people they are responsible for. Only a Republicanist, Trumpist asshole would think of something like that. It would work on people like him and his lost, broken unit followers, so he thinks it will work on good people. I'd tell him to put his blood money where the sun don't shine.

(9,897 posts)Yeah, they are going to be going to school with or without symptoms because I can't stay home with sick kids any longer (no money coming in, no relief available) and I am also going to make sure that they stay within 2 or 3 feet of your kids all day long while projecting their coughs and sneezes and deep breaths all directly at your (presumably) unmasked children.
If you are not OK with THAT, then kindly sit down, shut up and get out of the way. Or challenge other scientific precepts like gravity by walking off of a large building without a harness or net...or are you simply afraid of gravity but not biology and microbiology?

(10,226 posts)Thats a big weakness of theirs. Dems are willing to admit they were wrong and change their stance, but these clowns think it makes them look strong. And so many will suffer because of this. I dont really care about the adults, but to force that on the children, I think even some RWers will draw the line.

(65,134 posts)They can't actually enforce this law and the first judge that sees it will issue a stay.
The Florida constitution says they must fund public education and this is nothing but an attempted end run around a legal obligation.
This is bluster, with no weight.
