She might not if she had voted for her.
She only had one shot and never went back for the second.
I had stopped talking to her after the election.
She is sick but at home.
Elections have consequences.

(36,747 posts)Every war has death.
We are at war with a virus.
Too bad she didnt prepare for it correctly.
It is what it is.
The one shot was not enough.
The hospitals are full.
She just didn't like Hillary.
Couldn't not tell you why.
To many like her.

(25,598 posts)"There's just something about her I don't like" was a frequent one. I think it was Oprah who scolded people by saying something like, it doesn't matter if you like her, she's not coming over to your house! Anything positive about Hillary was always qualified by negatives, only 10% of press coverage mentioned any policy, the internet was flooded with disinformation. Then afterwards everyone blamed Hillary for being "flawed."

(2,962 posts)I asked her what was it about Hillary that you do not like.
She couldn't say.
I don't get it myself.

(9,998 posts)We're at war with the Piece Of Shit repubs who refuse to get vaccinated.
We've already figured out how to defeat the virus. We're engaged in an active battle with an opponent who is siding with the virus.

(36,747 posts)The virus will not stop trying to evade antibodies. There are still too many unvaccinated worldwide.

People like that are a lost cause.

(2,962 posts)I stopped talking to her.
Her husband has to take care of her.
I am staying home to stay healthy as possible.
She should have got that second shot.

(854 posts)successful in poisoning the well when it comes to Hillary. And have no doubt that this was a years long campaign to discredit a Dem woman they thought might might eventually be a challenger in the national sphere. Years of BS based on lies, innuendo and guilt by association. It's tragic that there is no legal remedy for their rat-fuckery.
But then the question is, did anyone from the Dem side learn the lesson? Is the right still trying to play that game? Think AOC, and the constant attacks on her by the right. There may be others (Katie Porter being one, but so far I haven't seen the same assholishness against her). She is the one current Dem woman that comes immediately to mind as a target for this type of campaign. I have no idea if she has thoughts of higher office, but given her age, her smarts and how articulate she is, she has a future and would be a natural target for their skullduggery. Smart women scare the bejesus out of them for some reason.

(25,598 posts)Right now AOC's in a similar position to Hillary's in the 90s when she was seen as radical. In 2016 Trump was calling Hillary "establishment" and corrupt. Hillary didn't change, the attacks did.
"It's hard to think of another politician whose career has been as challenged by the quakes and shakes of social change ... . In this past election, they came full circle with cruel irony. In 1992, when being a First Lady with her own prominent career and independent view was seen as revolutionary threat to the image of the First Family, Clinton caught fire from traditionalists. Skip to 2016, and for a generation of white, middle-class women used to seeing their mothers with briefcases and business suits, Clinton's hard-won accomplishments could be made to appear as an alliance with the 'establishment.' To be branded as a threat to the established order in one decade and its friend in another -- while her own basic political commitments had changed very little -- was a whiplash that neither Clinton nor her supporters were prepared for. This kind of crude, historically uninformed branding -- based less on fact than on cultural story-telling and tribal lore -- has become an increasingly potent force in contemporary politics." (Susan Bordo)
In a couple of decades, AOC might be called the future version of "establishment," without changing her political opinions. Elizabeth Warren also went from being a progressive many other progressives said they'd vote for, but when she actually ran for president, I saw some of those same people turn on her. Suddenly she was a former Republican and said she was capitalist and that was disqualifying. She hadn't changed. Never know what's going to happen with branding.

(854 posts)I know the pubbies make it a hobby to a attack any Dem, but their attacks on AOC, a still young, low-level time-served rep in the house seem particularly focused and nasty. After Hillary and the long-term campaign against her, it should be a cautionary tale for the party to be looking at counter measures to the pubbie attempts at sabotage.

It's pretty unforgiveable when one looks at the extreme blatant damage to every part of American society.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)for her dreadfully irresponsible choice and many more will for years. Under HRC the federal government would have moved competently to containment and control everywhere cases were discovered, and chances that the virus would have made its way to her would have been very low. And the trumpism epidemic would not have developed and spread as it has either.
Hope she recovers completely of course.
Texaswitchy
(2,962 posts)Maybe the one shot will save her.
She is really sick.
I am ready for a booster when it come along.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)Boy, me too for the booster! I'm immunocompromised, on immunosuppressant medication, etc, and wasn't happy to hear Dr. Fauci say that group needed to be prioritized for a booster.
Some are going to pharmacies or wherever and getting a third shot. We've been back to hiding after maybe 10 days of feeling free two months ago and will wait.

She is really ill.
She sounded terrible over the phone.
My Granddaughter is due for her second shot next week.
Her little sister is only 11.
My Granddaughter is only 12 and stepped up on her birthday and got her shot.
She wants to protect her sister.
I am proud of her.
I have two pictures of her getting her shot and showing off her arm and shot record.

(2,962 posts)She just didn't go CVS for the second one.
I got my second from CVS.
The stores are everywhere here, that and Walgreens.
We had a mass drive in place close my house.
The places to go were numerous.

(44,974 posts)For people who didn't get the second shot on time, they can still go and get it.
It seems to work just fine, maybe even better with longer time periods between the shots.
