JUST IN: Orange County Public Schools says roughly 4% of students submitted notes to opt-out of the districts face mask requirement on the first day of school. Thats about 8,200 notes. About 209,000 kids returned today, which is 3,000 more than last year.

Which has an opt-in policy. SO's last year of teaching. He's wearing a mask and is, of course, fully vaccinated. Last year all of his students complied with no complaints.
I fear what is coming.

Its infectivity is too high.
It may mitigate but there will be substantial outbreaks.

(21,788 posts)5. I talked to a teacher last week who got "outed" on Facebook.
Someone posted a picture of her classroom showing how she had distanced the desks from one another, and a picture of her teaching while wearing a face mask.
This is apparently so outrageous on her part that people posted her home address and phone number and now she is getting violent and obscene threats and her kids are getting harassed.
